چکیده

In this paper, we propose a stochastic approach for tracking articulated 3D human motion in the high-dimensional configuration spaces using synchronized multiple cameras. We seek for the globally optimal solutions of the likelihood with local memorization about the “fitness” of each body segment for a volume sequence directly in the 3D space instead of projecting a rough simplified body model to 2D images. we have developed a modified annealed particle filtering algorithm for the global optimization while taking into consideration of local constraints. The volumetric 3D models generated from the multiple cameras are segmented into 15 parts and assigned 42 degrees of freedom for motion estimation. The matching error is about 7% on average while tracking the posture between two neighboring frames. For the frame t+1, we deform the surface model of the frame t by the estimated rigid transformations. Then we capture the non-rigid deformation by fitting the transformed surface to 2D silhouettes.

Shape-From-Silhouette of Articulated Objects and its Use for Human Body Kinematics Estimation and Motion Capture

Shape-From-Silhouette (SFS), also known as Visual Hull (VH) construction, is a popular 3D reconstruction method which estimates the shape of an object from multiple silhouette images. The original SFS formulation assumes that all of the silhouette images are captured either at the same time or while the object is static. This assumption is violated when the object moves or changes shape. Hence ...

Visual Hull Alignment and Refinement Across Time: A 3D Reconstruction Algorithm Combining Shape-From-Silhouette with Stereo

Visual Hull (VH) construction from silhouette images is a popular method of shape estimation. The method, also known as Shape-From-Silhouette (SFS), is used in many applications such as non-invasive 3D model acquisition, obstacle avoidance, and more recently human motion tracking and analysis. One of the limitations of SFS, however, is that the approximated shape can be very coarse when there a...

Reconstruction of segmentally articulated structure in freeform movement with low density feature points

Though a large body of research has focused on tracking and identifying objects from the domain of colour or grey-scale images, there is a relative dearth in the literature on complex articulated/non-rigid motion reconstruction from a collection of low density feature points. In this paper, we propose a segment-based articulated matching algorithm to establish a crucial self-initialising identi...

Articulated motion reconstruction from feature points

A fundamental task of reconstructing non-rigid articulated motion from sequences of unstructured feature points is to solve the problem of feature correspondence and motion estimation. This problem is challenging in high-dimensional configuration spaces. In this paper, we propose a general model-based dynamic point matching algorithm to reconstruct freeform non-rigid articulated movements from ...
